sis just called, she says my niece is in great pain and she's taking her to the hospital... she thinks it might be her appendix. Please pray for my niece. On top of everything, my sis has no money and her medical insurance, through her office, won't cover my niece because she's already over 21, so she does not qualify. Also, because niece works as a "service provider" and not as an employee with the event companies she works with, she herself has no insurance and is not eligible for the social security hospitals (there is 1 company she works for that gives them temporary insurance while they are working long-term events, but wouldn't you know it? She finished her last contract last week!) Please, please, please, pray for her... national hospitals in third world countries are NOT nice!
Prayers needed for my niece, please!

I just got back from the hospital, they already took her out of recovery and is ok. (so much so that she wanted sis to call a photographer to let him know she can´t make the photoshoot scheduled for tomorrow morning!) Sis just took her to a private hospital (the cheapest one available, they estimated the cost will be around $1,000. She is staying in a shared room, which costs $16/night, luckily, the hospital was almost empty, so there was no one else in the room at the time). The doctor said her appendix was already about to burst and that sis did well in bringing her when she did. In fact, sis tells me by the time she finished with the paperwork, they already had her in the OR! Sis got in touch with the person who handles her insurance at work. This woman came here last month, and sis was the one that drove her around during her visit (after all, she´s the one with the company car!), so she knows my sis. She told my sister that when she (the woman) filled out the forms for the insurance, she listed niece as a dependent, because she´s still under 25, living at home and is not employed, so she will ask the insurance company if they can cover this. (praying that the insurance company says yes!) In the meantime, sis called a couple of friends and I called a couple of friends and she already has the $1,000, which need to be paid before niece is released from the hospital. If sis had taken her to the national hospital, she´d probably still be waiting to be evaluated (believe me, I was there once with my MIL! we were there for 4 hours before she was seen by the doctor). Sis stayed with her at the hospital.
