I'm thinking of buying stuff I KNOW I really won't use...
You know, things like... a sewing machine (no, I don't know how to sew...no, I don't think I'd learn if I bought one... yes, I've always wanted to learn BUT...even if I bought it ....I wouldn't have the time to learn to use it at the moment!!)
... there are also a couple other "useless" things in my mind...so...
HELP!!!
somebody talk me out of this!!!!
HELP!!!

But wait! Why... Look! It hasn't happened yet. It's the future voice of yourself telling you not to buy it. Wow, how did that happen?
Seriously though, I could use a sewing machine.

Been there a few weeks ago - just wanted to buy, buy, buy - but big things like new carpeting and a new couch. The feeling passed and I'm still plodding along saving for the roof and property taxes, etc.
It will pass - just hold on tight to your money!

On a side note: I have THREE sewing machines and I don't even sew!!!! I had a perfectly working older used machine and then I got my grandfather's Singer. Stupid thing kept breaking and then he wanted it back. My mother (who couldn't afford it) bought me a $100 modern plastic machine to "replace" it. I've used it once or twice. I didn't even need it, but couldn't turn down the gift! There's also apparently an antique Necchi in the table I use as a nightstand in the 2nd bedroom. Guess it works - never tried it!

BA: you're too funny!
I thought about it in this terms: I would use it to make one (1) bag (I have the materials, I just don't have the time), which I could also sew by hand...I would probably use it to mend hems and other small stuff...since I live in ES, taking the clothes to a professional seamstress or tailor would cost about $3-$5 for small repairs....so, to make it worthwhile, I'd have to have at least 20 pieces of clothing that needed mending... (which I DON'T)...so... It's just NOT worth it!...

Definitely avoid walking/driving past the store that's selling it also...better part of valor.

every time I get an urge to buy one, I borrow and am reminded why I hate them...fight with threading, fight with how to get the whatever to fit on the machine to sew, try to guess which of 500 available stitches is the right one, get started, then have to undo it all so you can go look up how to fill a bobbin, then go back to sewing only to realize it would have been done by hand by now and about as straight....
