sent this to our VP:

…and before I forget to mention: Maria did a great job in helping them set-up on Monday - e-mail account, getting enough chairs, internet connection - all of that was not really ready, but Maria did a fine job (once again) in overcoming these difficulties.

he was so very busy this Monday, when we got 6 interns who will be working with us on a special project for 2 months...I hadn't known until Monday 8:15am that they were coming and, someone else from another area was supposed to have everything set up for them (no, it wasn't! -- 2 chairs for 6 people, the phone line and data lines were not activated, there was no telephone to plug in, either!)...not that they are fully settled at the moment, but, at least they can work!
Awwww....my boss

I don't know how it works at your workplace, but I would print it out and hang on to it. At most, maybe it can help negotiate for a better raise. At the very least, it can brighten some of your days.

Maria,
Many thanks for all your help, I was relying on other people who agreed to have this ready on Monday but once again experience shows that if you do not step in it just does not get done on time.
Muchas gracias and let's discuss what would be a convenient day for you to go out for a lunch!

I asked for a raise last year and was told that, while much deserved, it was impossible, as I'm at the top of salary bracket for my position...the VP told me he was negotiating a reclassification of my job, so that I could go into a different salary bracket...maybe they're just gathering "proper documentation" to make their case! (not that I have too high hopes on this, given the way HR people view admins! -- sad but true!)
