labeling

July 18th, 2006 at 09:15 pm

Ale's school stuff, that is...I really don't understand this...mainly because our school was subsidized, so what we bought was minimal (think pens, pencils and notebooks)...books had a stamp inside where you wrote your name and grade and, where to be bound in clear plastic if new when they were given to you (on loan)...

So, yesterday I stayed up until 11:00pm labeling stuff (didn't finish, though!)...I just have to say: I'm happy we have computers and can print the same label 11,000 in 10 different sizes if needed, without having to type it more than once! (or I'd be even crazier!!)

my goal this week is to finish labeling EVERYTHING and, put everything in its plastic box as required by the school, then put it in the highest tier of my closet where Ale cannot get to it! -- that way I'll be ready for my next challenge: binding books in clear plastic! (books haven't arrived yet...have I mentioned I was so spoiled that my nanny would bind my books/notebooks for me when I was at school??...it's difficult to do it right!...I guess I have to learn now...better late than never!)

I have to ask, but what do you mean by binding the books in plastic? I know that we covered our textbooks with paper in school, but I'm not sure that is similar to what you are referring to. Plus, I can't imagine actually having text books now, unless school has already started.

same concept as the paper, except you are asked to cover them in clear plastic, which is available here in all school supply stores...some schools go as far as to request that the notebooks/books be covered in a specific color of paper depending on the subject, then covered in plastic for protection. (not Ale's thankfully!).. I already paid for the books, and should get them the first week of August... back when I was at school, we got our books the first day of school, and they had to be "bound" by the next class where you have to use that book (so, anywhere from the next day to the next week!)...the idea at our school was to help parents as much as possible (you didn't have to pay for the books unless you lost or damaged it, so the school though it was fair that the parents pay for the plastic!)...I'll post a picture once I have the books...so you can see them...
