$50 more!

unfortunately, it'll take $60 to pay for the new lock installed in our house (weird stuff has been going on!)

That's the kind of item, like plumbing fixtures, that I try to find BEFOREHAND, at liquidators or estate sales, where oftentimes really pricey items, still new in the box can be picked up for pennies on the dollar.

I simply don't like the "surprise" $60 expenditure for new locks.... whenever one has to be replaced, there's just no waiting period, it has to be done then & there, so you can't wait for sales.

Same with plumbing fixtures, so for instance, I've got a spare NICE shower faucet retailing well over $100 that I picked up a few years ago for under nine bucks.

These things can really hit rock bottom prices at some stores, it seems most people want the latest style from a big box store, I simply want the best made for the tiniest amount of money possible.

Hope that the lock solves your problems with the disappearing twenties.

I know...I try to do that, too, and last time we needed a lock I had one that I had purchased for $6...but, front door locks are different, and even on sale they are about $25-$30....the $60 was both for the lock and the installation, so it wasn't THAT bad...still...OUCH!

No, I did mean the 100 dollar variety of dead-bolt external door locks. I found several at a liquidator's store several years ago - haven't had to use either of them yet, they are nicely ageing in the garage, they cost me 9.98 each.
