no more soda for lunch at work in August

August 7th, 2006 at 08:00 pm

I would like to say for the rest of the year, or even: forever, but, I'm trying to be realistic!
I brought the teabags and a tall glass from home (LOL! Spiderman glass!) ... my last glass was a generic blue glass, bought at the supermarket downstairs...guess what, it got stolen!!...(somebody "borrowed" it in my absence and I haven't been able to locate it!)...
anyway, it's much cheaper than soda and, definetely healthier! ....so, at least for August, I'm drinking ice tea with my home-packed lunches!

cheers!

You have got to get some tupperware (go to ebay, get for cheap) Then you can make sweet sun tea, and put it into the tupperware tumblers!

i like my own homemade ice tea all summer long. I do a 1/2 gallon pitcher with 3 caffein black tea bags and 2 decaf green bgs, for the health benefits.

It's VERY hard to wean yourself off soda if that's what your habit has been.

...so you can get an idea (and I'm not proud of this!), Mom used to buy directly from the guys that delivered the Coca Cola to our local convenience store, they gave her wholesale price...she bought as much as 7 cases a week! (for herself, my sis and I...Dad didn't like soda!) ...when times were lean, we were asked to "cut back" to 1 case per person per week! ...so, yes, I'm a soda addict!

I woke up one day a few years ago and all of a sudden couldn't stomach soda anymore. So it was easy for me to quit! I have it very rarely if we grab fast food, and even then it's usually a kid size drink. I usually just drink water if we eat out. Saves on the bill as well.

Too bad lately I can't stomach alcohol. Frown No reason at all why, I just can't anymore.
Guess that will save money as well!!!!

Tea also has many health benefits that go along with saving money. Anti-oxidant rich tea is good for you. Personally I have grown used to unsweetened.Smile

Soft drinks contain high fructose corn syrup and they contribute to obesity or artificial sweeteners that may cause cancer. A Harvard study relates that these drinks may be responsible for the doubling obesity in children. There are a many alternative for soft drinks healthier and cheaper such as tea, homemade lemonade, carbonated water or Crystal Light. Just try to substitute soda.
